Departure from San Miguel de Allende
We will go to your hotel to pick you up to start our journey to Mineral de Pozos. You can still see the remains of what was a large wealthy town thanks to its mining industry. Currently its imposing constructions show us the loneliness product of a sad decadence, abandoned over time. Pozos was founded in 1576 to protect the Chichimeca silver route. Because it was very difficult to civilize this indigenous group, this work was entrusted to the Jesuits who realized the wealth found in the minerals of this area and taught these people techniques to extract and exploit metals. Pozos has had several periods of wealth, but the day came when the minerals ran out and this Ghost Town was left to the admiration of adventurous visitors.
Visit: The Jesuit Ovens, The Five Lords Mine and Hacienda, The Santa Brígida Mine and Hacienda, The Lord of Works Temple, The Model School, The Municipal Presidency, San Pedro Church, The Garden and its Alameda.
Optional: Visit to the pre-Hispanic music group “Corazón Endiosado”.
We return to San Miguel de Allende and end at your hotel.
